Our Sister School:  Taejon Christian International School (TCIS)

The providential intersection of two paths—the search by Suwon City and Gyeonggi Province officials to find the right school to start a high-profile international school in Suwon and the vision for high quality Christian education realized at Taejon Christian International School (TCIS)—brought about the inception of GSIS.

TCIS enjoys a region-wide reputation as an outstanding institution that delivers the education promised in its mission statement. A TCIS distinctive is the 200-plus boarding students in its accredited boarding program, contributing to the school’s unique atmosphere among international schools in Korea.

As GSIS’s parent school from conception through the initial stages of formation, TCIS provided input for the facilities design, ordered classroom materials, recruited or supplied initial faculty and staff, and made available curriculum and policy documents to enable GSIS to get off the ground successfully.

Since GSIS opened its doors in 2006, the sister school relationship has grown stronger annually. Collaborative efforts are appearing in more and more aspects of the schools’ operations.

TCIS brings a half-century of history into this relationship, and is itself stepping into uncharted waters of its own as it prepares to relocate its campus to the Techno Valley suburb of Daejeon in August 2011.
