The GSIS Theatre Program offers a dynamic, engaging, and rigorous theatre curriculum for students as well as countless performance opportunities. The theatre classroom teaches students how to use the dramatic arts to tell stories and provides a place for creative expression.
Drama is offered in all five years of the MYP curriculum. DP Theatre HL and SL options are available in Grade 11 and Grade 12. Students study acting, theatre theory, history of theatre, improvisation, art with a purpose, scene work, technical theatre, and collaborative theatre throughout the theatre courses.
GSIS produces three mainstage productions each year: the Fall Musical, the Winter Play, and the Spring Play. Additional productions include an Improv Show, Student Directed One Acts, Collaborative Theatre, and the opportunity for students to participate in local and global theatre competitions and festivals.
Beyond a strong theatre training, GSIS Theatre Program also focuses on building a strong community. Students serve in every capacity, from aiding or being the director to being part of the working crew. The program focuses on all aspects of theatre and strives to develop well-rounded students with a passion for creativity and the arts.
We welcome you to all of our productions. Come see why visitors have said, “I recommend this to anyone who has time to go! Can’t believe this was a high school production!” and “So impressed! Phenomenal! Very well done!”
We would love to share the joy of theatre with you!
