7thAnnual GSIS Alumni Reunion
On May 29th, GSIS celebrated its 7thAlumni Reunion that took place from 5 pm to 8:30 pm at the GSIS soccer field. Mr. Brumsickle opened the ceremony with prayer, and welcomed all alumni back to GSIS. Mr. Brumsickle commented, “GSIS is very proud of its Alumni and wants to continue to support and follow their outstanding global contributions. Our GSIS alumni are a reflection of our GSIS mission, and it is vital for GSIS and alumni to remain in contact and to continue to support each other in a very complex, yet globalized world”. With Alumni that have gone to school to at some of the more elite universities in the world, the time together was both “enriching and fun” stated recently graduated Jane Kim who will be interning at GSIS in the elementary school during the 2018-2019 school year.
The Alumni Reunion theme was “Reminisce, Reconnect, and Rejoice”, and was attended by over 90 people, including alumni, teachers and staff. A food service truck that served steak and Hawaiian shrimp as well as a coffee bistro truck added to a festive atmosphere that highlighted the evening. To cap off a fun menu, Pat Ping Su,a Korean version of Hawaiian Shaved Ice was served. All alumni were given an alumni gift of a digital wood clock with “ GSIS” tastefully engraved on the front. Alumni enjoyed participating in a soccer match with faculty, or basketball games in the gym, or many just enjoyed socializing and catching up on the sidelines. The evening was also spirited with great music; DJ’d by 5thgrade Teacher, Mr. Coleman. The music selection definitely kept spirits high as Mr. Coleman kept many dancing!
Although the evening endured heavy rains, it did not dampen the spirits of those that attended. Mr. Brumsickle wanted to thank Ms. Chelsey, Ms. Mikki Yoon, and all GA staff who helped in setting up the evening. It proved to be a very successful evening, and the Development Officelooks forward to even greater attendance for the 8thAnnual Alumni Reunion. Thank you to all alumni and GSIS supporters who attended! See you in May 2019!
